It all began in 1980 when founder Kevin York launched York Brothers Lawn Care in Olathe, Kansas—mowing lawns, repairing landscapes, and responding to what his clients asked for. Soon the business expanded into lawn renovation, sprinkler systems, painting, snow removal and full-service landscaping.

Over time, Kevin realized his customers wanted more: outdoor living spaces that go beyond lawns. He earned his general contractor’s license and began taking on additions, room remodels, baths, kitchens and more.

Then, in 2006, at Kevin’s own home—a journey led by his wife Patti—a backyard project emerged: patio, firepit, outdoor kitchen… and a pool. Kevin chose a fiberglass shell, learned the process, trained with vendors, and successfully installed it himself. Recognizing a gap in the market for quality local fiberglass-pool installation, he launched Pools by York, Inc. and shifted full-time into pools and outdoor living.

 The original landscaping arm was sold in 2012 so the team could focus entirely on what they loved: designing, building and servicing fiberglass pools, spas, tanning ledges and complete outdoor environments.
